As a company that delivers its key development projects in Warsaw, BBI Development SA supports organizations, associations and projects linked to the capital’s history as we have high respect for Warsaw’s past and heroic spirit.
One such organization is the Union of Warsaw Insurgents, which we support by part-funding a historical quarterly published by the Union.
In August 2011 the company organized celebrations of the 67th anniversary of the taking down of the insurgents’ barricade that blocked access to the Old Town (Simons Arcade) at the junction of Długa with Nalewki streets, now known as Bohaterów Getta. The event was organized together with the insurgents from Battalion Chrobry I.
Plans are also underway to mark the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the 1944 Warsaw Rising. The celebrations will include an exhibit, mounted on the Sezam building, presenting the past of Marszałkowska street and its environs, including major insurgent actions that took place in the neighbourhood.
The company also supports and collaborates with the Lady Ryder of Warsaw Memorial Trust, set up by Sue Ryder, a great friend of Poland and Warsaw. Specialists from Juvenes Projekt Sp. z o.o. helped to prepare renovation plans for the headquarters of the Sue Ryder Museum in Rogatka near Plac Unii Lubelskiej, provided to the Trust by Warsaw authorities. The company is co-funding the renovation and supporting the Trust’s efforts to create a museum.
In addition, BBI Development SA supports a number of the Trust’s efforts aiming to raise funds for its statutory activities – it co-organized an anniversary concert in the National Philharmonic concert hall to honour Sue Ryder, held an art auction that benefited the Trust’s work, and helped to organize a Rat Race for teams of four persons wearing their everyday work cloths. During the race, the Trust was raising money for accident victims.
Both the company and its Executive Board members support the work of one of the most respected charities – the Polish Association of the Sovereign Military of Knights of Malta. BBI Development SA helped to organize a concert celebrating the 900th anniversary of the Association of the Sovereign Military Order of the Knights Hospitallers of St John of Jerusalem, Rhodes and Malta, which was held in May 2013 in the National Philharmonic concert hall under the auspices of Poland’s President Bronisław Komorowski. The company also supports the charity balls organized by the Association. In 2011 BBI Development SA hosted a Malta Cocktail Party before a charity ball in the Koneser Centre.
During the flood emergency in Warsaw in May 2010, BBI Development SA made a donation to WGW s12 Rescue Team, which operated in areas flooded by the Vistula. The donation was used towards the purchase of a vehicle used in rescue operations.
